Perinatal Clinical Psychologist
Grad.Dip.Psych., B.Psych.Sc.(Hons.), MPH, M.Psych.(Clinical).,MAPS,
Jo is a perinatal clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting families throughout the perinatal period, from pre-conception, pregnancy and postpartum to parenting children under 3 years of age. She has completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and has worked with adults and children in a variety of settings. Jo has conducted research in the field of perinatal mental health exploring paediatric sleep methodology, mother-infant relationship quality and maternal reflective functioning.
Jo aims to provide parents with a relaxed, friendly, and safe space where they can feel comfortable sharing the parenting challenges they are facing. She supports parents to understand their own attachment history and its influence on their current concerns and parenting challenges.
Jo uses a warm, gentle, person-centred approach to work with parents to achieve their therapeutic goals. She utilises evidence-based therapies from an attachment-based and trauma-informed approach to support the needs of clients. Jo incorporates a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Therapy.
Jo works collaboratively to empower soon-to-be parents, new parents, and parents with mental health issues to strengthen their relationships with their infants, build their parenting confidence and manage the challenges of parenting. Jo works with mothers, fathers, single parents, same-sex families, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community through their perinatal journey.
Parents are welcome to bring their baby to sessions.
