Charmain is a clinically trained psychologist with special interests in attachment and issues arising in the perinatal period. She firmly believes the perinatal period is one of the most important times in individuals and families lives and the work done at this time has lifelong consequences on wellbeing. Her experience and research has continued to inform her understanding and deep interest in this period, with her doctoral thesis focusing on supporting new mothers develop secure, loving relationships with their infants.
The journey to parenthood is a momentous one and often brings to the forefront patterns, defences and ways of coping that are no longer helpful. Charmain has a warm, caring and non-judgemental approach to therapy, providing a safe and supportive environment for her clients. She works with mothers, fathers and their infants using a relationship-based approach that focuses on understanding the links between earlier life experiences and the difficulties that they are currently experiencing. Her primary interests are in attachment relationships, perinatal depression and anxiety and infant/toddler social and emotional development. She is passionate about helping clients understand their own story so they can support their family flourish in their next chapter.

Fees & Rebates
Cost: $200 per 50-minute session *Medicare Rebate: $128.40
Out-of-pocket: $71.60 per session (less if safety net threshold has been met)
*Medicare rebates are available to those who have a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. This must be in place prior to the first claimable session.
