Sabrina Yang is a Brisbane based Educational and Developmental Psychologist who has worked with infants, children, adolescents, and their parents in both the public and private sector for more than 10 years. Sabrina enjoys working within an attachment framework to optimise the relationships in families by keeping the baby, mother, and father in mind through the journey of therapy.
Sabrina is passionate about supporting families through the challenges of conception, pregnancy, postnatal periods, parental adjustment, and parenting transitioning through stages of a child’s development.
She has experience working within Mater Mother’s Maternity Hospital and Child Health Community setting supporting families through infertility, perinatal grief and loss, foetal abnormalities, birth related distress, NICU, birth trauma, and postnatal well-being (related to feeding difficulties, sleep and settling stresses). Sabrina has also supported families through unexpected health diagnosis including cancer, dialysis, and other medical conditions.
With a Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology, Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling & Intervention, and ongoing professional development in the area of infant and perinatal interventions has strengthened her skills in supporting your family during different period of development. Sabrina is also an accredited provider of the Circle of Security Parenting Program. She is passionate about helping parents become more confident in providing their child with the pathway to a secure attachment. If you have previously completed the COSP DVD program and are looking for more tailored support for your child and yourself, she is able to provide a more in-depth support for your family using individual protocol.
As a mother of three children, Sabrina understands the challenges and juggling required for families. She is a firm believer in being a “good enough” parent and is passionate about providing families with a map of understanding the infant’s / child’s needs to strengthen family relationship. Sabrina is also passionate in working with neurodiverse families and supporting individuals to find their strengths and gaining more understanding of their challenges.
Sabrina uses a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches that relate to your specific needs, goals and presenting concerns. Her approaches include cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, acceptance commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, schema therapy, psychotherapy and attachment-based intervention.
Sabrina relocated to Australia from Taiwan as a teenager. She is passionate about supporting individuals with Cultural and Linguistic Diverse backgrounds who may be struggling with adjustment. Sabrina is also able to conduct psychology intervention in Mandarin.
Parents are encouraged to bring their baby to sessions.
