Dr Carrie Stanford
Clinical Psychologist
BBSc (Hons), DPsych (Clinical)

Carrie is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked with a range of clients in both public mental health and private practice for over 14 years. Carrie has a warm and nurturing nature and is passionate about developing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship to help clients navigate their challenges and concerns.

Carrie uses a relational approach to address the varying needs and difficulties individuals experience with regard to fertility, pregnancy, birth and parenting. Some of these issues can include helping individuals with processing childhood issues that may arise due to the arrival of a child as well as building a bond with baby, particularly after a difficult birth. Carrie has a particular interest in helping clients who have experienced loss and/or trauma during the perinatal period, as well areas relating to pregnancy, perinatal depression/anxiety, and adjustment to parenthood. She believes that the journey to become a parent is often unique and can involve a level of change and adjustment for which additional support and reflection can be beneficial.

Carrie aims to work collaboratively with clients to better understand their personal experience and the unique challenges related to pregnancy and parenthood. Therapy is tailored specifically to ones presenting concerns and can incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities. Carrie utilises therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema Therapy. She also utilises EMDR and mindfulness-based approaches in her therapeutic work.

Babies are welcome in session.
